Church Property Coverage
Protection for your building and more.
Property coverage refers to financial protection in the event of fire, theft, vandalism, and some kinds of weather damage. For a church, this means coverage of items such as your buildings, the buildings’ contents, signs, property in the open, fences, etc. Many church insurance policies automatically include coverage for the above standard items, along with many non-standard items, such as those listed below:
-
Equipment Breakdown Insurance - Coverage includes computers, boilers, and electrical equipment
-
Newly Acquired or Constructed Property – Coverage is an extension of your property coverage.
-
Pastor’s Personal Property – Covers the pastor’s personal property at the house of worship.
-
Ordinance or Law Coverage – Provides coverage for building updates or construction when it’s required by ordinance following a covered loss or risk.
-
Stained Glass Window Protection – Insures and protects your churches stained glass windows.
-
Utility Service Interruption Coverage – Protects against direct damage to utilities. Coverage includes circumstances like damage to utilities from a storm, strong winds, tornadoes, and more
-
Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
-
Indirect Loss - Relates to loss in income and/or additional expenses as a result of a covered peril.
-
Appurtenant Buildings & Property in the Open – Many church policies include an automatic extension of coverage for a stated amount for appurtenant buildings and property in the open such as sheds, garages and playground equipment.
-
Sewer, Drain Backup, Sump Backup or Overflow – Some church policies include an automatic extension of coverage up to the policy property limit for resultant damage caused by overflow or backup of sewer, drain, or sump pump in the insured building. This is subject to the policy deductible.

Additional Policies Available
In addition to Church Property and Church Liability insurance, Moyer & DesCombes Insurance Agency, in partnership with InsuranceOne, can offer you several additional policies to complement your church insurance coverage such as the following. Click each policy for more details.
Business
Auto
Like any typical auto policy, business auto covers any type of auto that a church owns (personal autos, vans, buses, maintenance vehicles, and trailers). This coverage could include both the liability and comp and collision if the client desires.
Cyber
Liability
Most churches today utilize the web and online databases to operate. Any type of privacy breach or corruption of data could significantly impact the entity of your ministry.
Workers' Compensation
Covers a paid employee of the church that was injured while working. This would cover their medical expenses, as well as a portion of their future lost wages.
Umbrella
A policy written in million dollar increments that extends desired underlying coverages within other liability policies. For instance, a $1,000,000 umbrella policy that sits over the general liability would extend coverage to a total of $2,000,000. Certain coverages cannot be added to the umbrella based on underwriting guidelines.
Key Employee Life
Life Insurance for a pastor/church leader that is often needed for loans/mortgages, where the mortgage company would be the policy beneficiary. Many loan companies require this coverage. Underwritten by the Kansas City Life Insurance Company.
International
Coverage
Provides additional coverage for church groups traveling internationally.
